Dr. Janeen Blythe is a board-certified geriatric specialist physical therapist and athletic trainer who has been practicing and teaching for the past 8 years. As a former division 1 college athlete (volleyball) and division 2 athlete (volleyball and basketball) she became interested in working with athletes post injury to help them return to sport. She graduated from the University of Florida Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in May of 2018. While in school, Dr. Blythe had shadowing experiences with older adult populations and expanded her desire from just athletes to also prioritizing helping older adult (athletes or not) function at their desired level. Dr. Blythe has worked with a variety of populations including patients with oncological diagnoses, athletes and older adults with orthopedic injuries of the lower extremities, shoulders, and back (both acute and overuse), neurological diagnoses, and patients with balance deficits. She specializes in incorporating function as early as possible, often having patients’ interests such as gardening, weightlifting, ballroom dancing, and golfing incorporated into exercise choices to create relevance and meaning. Dr. Blythe has also been teaching with the University of Florida DPT program since her graduation for a variety of courses related to therapeutic exercise and health and promotion wellness. She enjoys teaching future clinicians and emphasizing the importance of treating patients individually with salient treatment. In addition to patient care and teaching, she has been working in research for the past 2.5 years at UF on a study about ways for nursery and landscape workers to manage and prevent back pain. Dr. Blythe is passionate about helping all patients get back to what they want, and she practices a collaborative approach where she ensures your goals and desires are a top priority.
Janeen was a dual college athlete playing both volleyball (D1 & 2) and basketball (D2)!
